Very interesting getting to know about a player’s contract, which normally club bosses wouldn’t be prepared to declare on the media. Just been reading on the Swazi Observer news website, that Swazi player Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe, is unhappy with two clauses on his contract offered by Jomo Cosmos, which states that in a 3 year deal he’ll be earning R25,000pm, without any option to review his earnings during that period.
Also within the same contract the club has the exclusive right to renew his contract when it expires, without that option given to the player to exercise his preference.
This player has been smart to raise these issues first before committing to a contract that doesn’t take his welfare at heart. Others would have been clouded by joining a premier league team (coming from a semi-professional league) and signed on the dotted line only to discover later, they’ve been sold a dummy…I give all kudus to “Taribo” your US education was well invested.
Soccer provides a short career lifespan, therefore as a player, you should ensure you maximise your earnings by all means possible while time permits.
