Rugby as usual is way ahead of the game. Jake White the former World Cup winning Springbok Rugby coach has just been assigned to do an audit on the rugby structures of the Golden Lions Rugby Union from the senior level right down to the juniors.
The underperforming Union wants to find the root cause of their malaise. The Union will act after Jake White’s company has concluded its audit and made its recommendations because surely something is seriously wrong judging by the Union’s dismal performances in the Vodacom Super 14 tournament. The exact same thing needs to be done in soccer.
Not only in South Africa but across the whole tournaments, particularly with several national teams. Mamelodi Sundowns have spent tens of millions of rands on player transfers and also invest hugely in their academy which has not produced a single player of note in the past 5 years. It’s time an audit was done on all the soccer structures at this club instead of letting Ted Dimutru, the club’s Technical Director hide behind meaningless jargon whenever he tries to explain what is happening on the sporting side of this club with such great potential.
Ted Dimutru doesn’t fool some of us. SAFA definitely need an audit done on all their soccer structures, particularly the senior national teams. How come Bafana Bafana can no longer compete with the best teams in Africa? The under-23s used to qualify for the Olympic games – how come they can’t do so anymore.
Why do all South African clubs all do so badly in the CAF Champions league when they are amongst the richest and best funded on the continent? These are all questions that will be answered with an in-depth audit which is concluded which insightful recommendations.
Despite being African Champions a record number of times the Egyptian National Soccer Team has failed to make an impact when it appeared at the World Cup whilst countries like Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Senegal punched way above their weight.
Why does Al Ahly dominate in the CAF Champions league and fail to get to the final of the World Club Cup considering the number of times they have participated in this tournament? Maybe Jake White’s company should be brought into soccer as well.
