Fusing football and technology, Tourism Radio and the Green Point Stadium Visitors Centre have partnered up and made history together in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup.
Tourism Radio was launched in 2005 and takes the form of a device that is fitted into hire cars and plays information specific to a user’s location. This unique radio station uses GPS technology to tell the listener about what is going on around them through the car radio. Tourism Radio also broadcasts their original ‘Intellipoint’ system, which draws attention to points of interest as the car approaches them.
In preparation for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup, Tourism Radio has increased production and distribution of their devices to meet the needs of the hoards of tourists visiting the country during the games. Aiming to maximise the pleasure of self drive holidays, Tourism Radio hope to be talking to over 2000 tourists a day by the time the first football is kicked off. The partnership with the Green Point Stadium Visitors Centre means that Tourism Radio is one step closer to making that hope a reality.
Mark Allewell, Chief Operating Officer and founder of Tourism Radio said, “The Green Point Visitors Centre is at the coal face of what we are going to be seeing in the FIFA World Cup in 2010. It’s incredibly exciting for Tourism Radio South Africa to partner with the visitors centre, because our listeners are interested in every facet of this great spectacle.”
The 2010 FIFA World Cup will kick off in just 421 days and until then, Tourism Radio listeners will be kept informed and offered quality information about Green Point Stadium and the Visitors Centre as they drive past these prolific landmarks.
